Sin embargo, eso no exime a las empresas constructoras de su responsabilidad cuando se producen accidentes en las obras.<\/p>\n<p>Los empleadores deben asegurarse de que sus trabajadores dispongan de entornos seguros en los que realizar su labor. Lamentablemente, esto no siempre es as\u00ed. Se producen muchos accidentes que causan lesiones o incluso la muerte a trabajadores de la construcci\u00f3n inocentes y esforzados. Muchos de estos accidentes se deben a cuatro factores principales, conocidos como \u00ablos cuatro fatales\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>\u00bfQu\u00e9 son los \u00abcuatro fatales\u00bb?<\/p>\n<p>Seg\u00fan la Administraci\u00f3n de Seguridad y Salud Ocupacional (OSHA), aproximadamente el 20 % de todas las muertes relacionadas con el trabajo registradas en 2014 se produjeron en el sector de la construcci\u00f3n. En conjunto, los cuatro factores principales que provocaron la muerte de trabajadores de la construcci\u00f3n representaron m\u00e1s del 60 % de todas las muertes en el sector.<\/p>\n<p>\u00bfCu\u00e1les son algunos accidentes recientes en los que han intervenido los \u00abcuatro factores mortales\u00bb?<\/p>\n<p>El pasado oto\u00f1o, un accidente ocurrido en la autopista 91 en Corona dej\u00f3 10 trabajadores de la construcci\u00f3n heridos al derrumbarse parte de una rampa de acceso a la autopista. El diario Los Angeles Times explica que la rampa derrumbada no golpe\u00f3 directamente a los trabajadores, sino que empuj\u00f3 unas vigas que, a su vez, golpearon a los hombres.<\/p>\n<p>Tambi\u00e9n el oto\u00f1o pasado, en las obras de una nueva instalaci\u00f3n de FedEx en el norte del condado de San Diego falleci\u00f3 un trabajador de la construcci\u00f3n. CBS 8 inform\u00f3 de que el hombre qued\u00f3 atrapado bajo un trozo de muro de contenci\u00f3n que se derrumb\u00f3. Se intent\u00f3 rescatar al trabajador, pero falleci\u00f3 antes de que pudiera ser rescatado.<\/p>\n<p>Este mismo verano, una viga met\u00e1lica golpe\u00f3 e hiri\u00f3 a dos hombres que trabajaban en un aeropuerto del norte de California. El Sacramento Bee se\u00f1ala que la divisi\u00f3n de la OSHA en California ha iniciado una investigaci\u00f3n sobre el incidente.<\/p>\n<p>\u00bfQu\u00e9 se puede hacer para mejorar la seguridad en las obras de construcci\u00f3n?<\/p>\n<p>La OSHA ofrece a las empresas de construcci\u00f3n una variedad de materiales de capacitaci\u00f3n en seguridad que pueden utilizarse para formar a los trabajadores y ayudar a que la seguridad sea una prioridad absoluta.
